ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Great Mara Safaris offers private tours for photographers.

Your guide is a fully trained local Masai. He has more than 15 years experience

in guiding in the Masai Mara and other national parks in Kenya.

Your guide has worked with (professional) photographers from

all over the world and speaks English fluently.

The guide will provide you with the very best the Masai Mara has to offer.

You will have a private jeep, fully adjusted for any photographer comfort.

All safaris will be custom made, build to your own wishes. This can either

be a full day safari from dawn to dusk or a morning and an afternoon game

drive.

Everything is possible. Needles to say that an off-road permit is possible.

Time is on your side. You can decide which animals to look for and how long

you want to stay. The guide is in contact with several other guides, so he knows

where the action is or will be.

For accommodation you have the choice of several safari camps,

according to your wishes.

We can arrange private transport (land or air) from Nairobi.

THE MASAI MARA

THE MASAI MARA

The Masai Mara is a photographers dream. Located in the south-west of Kenya it's the land of the Masai with vast plains and dotted with trees.

The Masai Mara is one of the best-known wildlife areas in Africa. Home to healthy big cats populations and an abundance of plains game.

The yearly arrival of millions of wildebeests during the great migration is an unparalleled nature phenomenon.

Sunrise and sunsets are spectacular on the vast open plains. Big cats populations (lions, leopards, cheetahs) are thriving. The Masai Mara is home to the largest lion population in Kenya.

Numerous wildlife documentaries were shot in the Masai Mara.

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT TO EXPECT

Plan your next photo adventure with Great Mara Safaris.

A full day safari starts early at around 05:15h. We enter the park early, searching for a special start of the day.

Typical goals for a safari can be:

THE HUNT

Because we spend the whole day in the Masai Mara we have plenty of time searching for big cats hunting. The guide has contact with other guides and rangers so he will know which pride of lions, cheetahs or leopards will go for a hunt.

CUBS

Because we start the day early we can reach the lions when they are still active. This gives us opportunities to photograph playful lion cubs.

SUNRISE AND SUNSETS

The Masai Mara can provide exceptional sunrise and sunsets. You can aim for early morning backlight photos or silhouette sunset photos.

GREAT MIGRATION

The Great Migration is one of natures phenomena. Millions of wildebeests and zebras are crossing. Best time to see the great migration is August and September.

LANDSCAPES

During the safaris we will cover the whole area. The vast plains,

The Marsh Area (where parts of BBC Big Cat Tales were filmed).

Black Rock Area, where you can photograph lions lying on the rocks.

Our jeeps fulfill every photographer needs. Bean bags and battery chargers are in the car. Open windows and roof, left-door removed for low angle shots.

Great Mara Safaris will do everything for the perfect shots.
